meet dawn

Have you ever stood in the kitchen at 2 a.m., mind racing with worst -case scenarios, unable to turn off the fear, thinking you’re the only one in the world up at that hour? Spoiler alert: you weren’t. That’s happened to Dawn, who knows what it’s like to be up at that hour with her thoughts. Those middle-of-the-night realizations? God used them to eventually become the foundation for a message that would transform not just her own life, but the lives of hundreds of others struggling with the same exhausting mental battles.

For over fifteen years, Dawn carried an idea—a practical, transformative way of thinking that helped her capture those anxiety-laden thoughts and replace them with the truth about who God really is. But between raising five kids, launching two sons into college, walking her precious Dad through dementia, and eventually his heavenly homegoing, her ideas stayed just that: ideas.

Today, the release of her book, The Root of All Fear, is more than an idea. It is a reality!

But here's the thing about Dawn: she's not writing from an ivory tower of spiritual achievement. Rather, she's writing from the trenches, as someone who has personally been transformed by the very process she teaches.

For more than 25 years, Dawn’s worked in full-time Christian ministry, focusing on equipping and encouraging families. She currently serves on staff with a marriage and family ministry, where she gets to do what she loves most—bringing God's word to life in personal, pragmatic ways that actually make sense on a Tuesday afternoon when everything's falling apart.

Dawn is practical, creative, fun, and deeply intentional about helping others find freedom from the lies that hold them hostage. She's led workshops on this material for fifteen years, and the stories people share about how it's changed their thinking keep her going on the hard days. She believes in walking alongside others through the messy middle of the journey with Jesus—not pretending to have it all figured out, but struggling together toward something better.

A few fun facts: Dawn lived in Spain for a while (where she perfected her love of good food and lively conversation), she loves to cook but absolutely despises cleaning up afterward (her family can confirm), and she's convinced that the best theology happens around a table with real people sharing real struggles. She's a passionate communicator who delights in making the profound feel accessible and the complicated feel doable.
These days, Dawn lives in Orlando, Florida, with her husband, Paul, their five children, and their dog, Lil’ Bill. When she’s not writing or teaching, you’ll likely find her in the kitchen—not spiraling in fear, but creating something delicious, sharing deep conversations over tea, and reminding herself (and anyone who will listen) that God’s truth is always stronger than the devil’s lies.

Because at the end of the day, that's what Dawn is all about: helping people recognize the lies, step into freedom, and discover that they're not alone in this beautiful, messy journey of faith.
